Working with Vulnerable People legislation – Working With Children (WWC) registration

The new law requires that a person hold registration in order to engage in a regulated activity with children.

Mostly registration is only required once, irrespective of the number of regulated activities an individual is engaged in. For instance you need only supply the same registration number whether it is your employer or a volunteer body such as a local sporting club.

From 1 April 2015 if an individual works or volunteers in certain roles with children: that person may need to hold registration under the new law.

This requirement applies to AKF Tasmania Team Coaches, coaches and club instructors. For additional information and registration go to http://www.justice.tas.gov.au/working_with_children.

New legislation will be in place in 2024 introducing enhanced youth and children safeguarding. Karate Tasmania is a signatory to the program with details available at Office of the Independent Regulator
